Therapeutical and spiritual uses for the medicinal plants of Hape

Hapé is a ground powder made from a blend of medicinal plants, including mapacho (pure tobacco), botanical herbs and flowers. It is used as a healing practice by various indigenous tribes of the Amazon rainforest in Colombia, Peru and Brazil.

Hapé is traditionally administered through the nose, using an specific pipe called Tepi and is honored by indigenous cultures for its ability to:

  • Connecting with nature’s energy
  • Grounding and centering

The preparation and use of Hapé are honored by prayers and chantings with clear intentions and respect for its sacred nature.

The process often involves a ceremony to activate the healing power of the plants and to integrate the energy of the forest upon the recipient. This deep reverence for sacred plants and ancient wisdom are an essential part of preserving indigenous culture and spiritual practices.
