KAYAKING SALT RIVER

Guide to Paddle among the magnificent wildlife and desert cliffs of Salt River – Arizona

Expect Arizona magic in every direction. Watch wild horses and birds in their natural home. This trip is both peaceful and energizing. You will not forget this view or this feeling.

Embark on an unforgettable adventure on The Salt River with a chance to see wild horses, colorful birds, and other native wildlife.

There is no better way to escape the hustle than to surrender at the beauty of nature at Tonto National Forest from your kayak.

Keep in mind during Your Trip:

  • Arrive Early: Head out early in the morning to avoid heat and crowds, and to potentially see more wildlife.
  • Understand the Rapids: The Salt River features a few rapids, so be prepared for moving water and the possibility of tipping.
  • Know Your Route: Plan your launch and exit points, and research the segments of the river you’ll be paddling.

Specially in Arizona’s weather, kayaking The Salt River is the perfect opportunity to explore the outdoors year-round, with options during all of the seasons to set out on a kayak and marvel at the River. You will paddle below thousand-foot cliffs and beside majestic saguaros in the Sonoran Desert.

Regardless of a few rapids, kayaking The Salt River is perfect for beginners or seasoned enthusiasts, and @fit.done.well can provide everything you need for an epic experience you are going to want to tell your friends and family about.

Before launching you will be provided with an orientation of basic safety and paddling instructions. After receiving suggestions on where to explore you can hit the water and go at your own pace. The swift water will take you downstream about two hours towards the exit point where you will be picked by transportation.

Don’t forget

  • While this is primarily a scenic float, there are sections of swift water and kayakers often tip out, so be prepared to get wet.
  • For less river traffic, and better chances to witness wild horses and wildlife, choose the earliest kayak groups.
  • Pack Essentials, Bring water, sunscreen, and snacks. Pack a dry bag for personal items.
  • To keep the serenity of the river, please refrain from playing music out loud and don’t litter.
